Opening Joy Movement Collective, an embodied movement space
Donation protected
Hey it's Liv from Enbodied Fitness! I am so glad you are here.
If you've ever wanted to be apart of something that is not only FOR the community, but also BY the community, read here:
If you choose to donate to this fund, your money goes solely and directly towards funding a community embodiment and fitness space that prioritizes and elevates members of the queer, trans, BIPOC, and disabled community.
We have lost an integral and original queer gym in our community, and the only others are owned and funded by individuals that prey on our community and exclude trans, disabled, and BIPOC people.
It's time for a new space that gives power and safety to those who need and deserve it (all of us).
I have been a fitness coach for 7 years, and have seen every manner of behavior and outcomes that the fitness industry breeds, from microagressions, body dysmorphia and gender dysphoria, sexist, racism, transphobia, and corporate greed. I've worked at big box gyms, country clubs, in-home set-ups, rec centers, and private male-owned businesses. A little over a year ago, I took the risk of going private under my own brand, knowing exactly what stood in my way and what I was up against. 2024 proved to be the busiest, most community-oriented, most love-filled year of my life as I had to implement a waitlist and realize that if I want to continue to serve this community, I would need to expand.
A year later, I'm doing just that.
If you've ever thought I wish I had more community, you can be apart of creating a space for new, embodied, REAL community. One where we share resources, and understand that power is something that must be shared, freely given, and responsibly used.
Update: we have signed a lease and are doing renovations!
What JMC offers:
- A mutual aid pantry from food to toiletries to clothing, plus a shower
- A studio space for breathwork, somatic movement, meditation
- A functional movement space for strength training and education
- A podcast studio
- A dog
-Other bodied practitioners, artists, and community members using the space and resources to engage their own clientele and groups.
- and more based on community needs.
checkpoint: how is your body feeling so far? what feelings are coming up, if any? this is an invitation to engage with your body as you read further.
Pricing breakdown:
-10k for deposit and startup (this is what we need a little quicker)
-10k for the purchase of sustainably-sourced, accessible equipment
-5k for paint and supplies (so we can make it more accessible and sensory-cognizant)
Our intention:
To care for the shifting needs of the community when it comes to movement, somatic, coaching, and trauma-informed services.
If you'd like to be apart of it (and your body says yes), and you can offer monetary support, donate here!
If you can contribute in other ways, or would like to inquire about becoming a client, please reach out to me at @enbodiedfitness, or 7205829937.
We deserve safety, and our community is what will get us there.
I love you,
Liv
