Hi, my names Kelly and I am 21 years old from Lancaster.
In march 2023 my step dad Andrew was In a car accident which led to him breaking his neck and having further injuries, he was later released from hospital and carried on as normal.
A few days later he was found on the bathroom floor and had been there for 3 hours before an ambulance managed to get to him.
Andrew is now left paralysed and has been in hospital since this incident. He is now left paralysed for the rest of his life with little movement in his arms. Throughout all of this he has been so positive and always manages to make a light of the situation no matter how hard it is for him.
I am setting this go fund me up to raise enough money to get him an electric wheelchair of his own as the hospital have a waiting list of up to 4 years. Having an electric wheelchair is essential for him to have the freedom of his own he deserves and it will be what he relies on for the rest of his life.
We never realise how much we take for granted until we face situations like this and how life can take such a turn overnight, to have the ability to walk around and go by our days as normal is something we don’t often think about, but to have that ability taken away from you overnight knowing the life you had before is beyond difficult and I can’t imagine how it must feel. Andrew from the day he came into our family has done so much for us and now it’s our turn to be there for him and support him when he needs it most.
Anything at all would be much appreciated and me and my family would be very grateful, thank you x
