Keep Marcus with His Family

Donation protected
Marcus will be 6 years old in June.  Since he was a year and a half, he has lived with his Geema and Papa then transitioned to live with his Aunt Michelle, her fiancee James, and his 3 cousins; Andrew, Matthew and Jack.  Marcus has grown up alongside his other cousin, Anna, who is the same age as Marcus. Marcus has 2 more aunts(Sarah and Abby) and 2 uncles (John and Michael) who are all a big part of his life as well.  He hasn't seen him mom since he was 2 years old.  She would call to talk to him occasionally, but has never been a part of his life.  Marcus' grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins are the family that he knows.

Marcus has a lot of special needs.  The first year and a half of his life he was not taken care of and was exposed to many unhealthy and unsafe things.  When his mom had some mental health issues, she made the wise decision to let his extended family care for Marcus.  His mom has still been making impulsive life choices and has a lot of instability in her own life.  She chooses to put herself in danger consistently, proving time and time again that she is an unfit mother.

For the past year, Marcus has been in Kindergarten.  He works with a team of teachers, therapists and counselors to make sure he is on track.  Marcus has been in a stable environment for the past 3 years of his life.  He was recently potty trained (finally!  yay!) and has grown an incredible vocabulary.  He has many behavioral and emotional needs, but he has come such a long way in his development.  He has thrived in a stable home and has grown incredibly close with his "brother-cousins."

On Tuesday, May 5th, Miranda showed up at Michelle's house unexpectedly while Matthew was baby-sitting.  She told Matthew she was taking Marcus to lunch and would be bringing him back.  Matthew called Michelle immediately, but it was too late.  Miranda was gone with Marcus and blocked all of us from contacting her.

Marcus' mom has cut off all communication with our family.  She hasn't allowed us to see or talk to him, even on the phone.   We just want what is best for Marcus.  We want him to have the safety and security of a loving family.   Marcus belongs at home with us.  He doesn't have his clothes or his toys.  His "mom" doesn't know anything about him.

This is going to be a long road fighting to get him back.  We have meetings set up with lawyers to get started on bringing him home.  It can be extremely expensive and we don't want to stop fighting just because money runs out.  We also don't want to take away from the other kids.  We are mostly asking for prayers, but we have also been asked several time if we would set-up this page.  If you would like to help with legal fees for fighting for Marcus, we would appreciate anything you can give towards our fight.   We don't know how much we will need in total, but we know this will be a good start.

Hopefully, when this is all over, Marcus will be back home with us... where he belongs!

Thank you!

With love and gratitude,
Marcus' Family
