Last year, I had a conversation with a close relative, who lives in Nigeria, that left me heartbroken but filled me with the desire to do something bold.
This relative reached out in September 2024, her voice trembling with fear. Her son lay sick in the hospital, and there was no money to pay his bills. Without hesitation, I sent what I had. We started talking about what she did for work and she spoke passionately about running a catering business but lacking the funds to scale it. As we spoke, a few questions gripped me deeply.
How many more times?
How many more times would I send money? How many more women…strong, determined, yet financially trapped… would call, desperate for help? How many more were suffering in silence, not because they lacked talent, ideas, or vision, but because they lacked opportunity?
There are millions of women around the world and specifically in Africa like my relative: toeing the poverty line but entrepreneurial, hard-working, and driven. They lack two things: access to capital, and support.
Our bold move is to support African women to thrive as entrepreneurs as a means to achieve financial independence. According to a World Bank report, small and medium businesses contribute up to 40% of national income (GDP) in emerging countries, with many of them being owned by women. However, access to finance is a major obstacle to growth.
Our goal in 2025 is to help 3 women jumpstart their entrepreneurial dreams through:
✅ Hands-On Apprenticeships and Training in High-Demand Businesses, such as catering and culinary arts, tailoring and fashion designing, etc. and
✅ Providing Start Up Capital required to turn their skills into businesses.
This time, I'm not just sending money, I’m building something that lasts.
If you’re inspired by this work, consider donating to this fundraiser. The funds we raise will cover:
1) Training and apprenticeship
2) Startup capital for female entrepreneurs
3) Operational costs to sustain the initiative
Your support can change lives. By donating, you’re not just funding a program—you’re investing in women’s futures, stronger families, and thriving communities. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference!
Thank you for being part of this mission!
