Help our unhoused neighbors facing displacement by supporting local church’s efforts to build a homeless shelter and resource center.
Temple of Grace Ministries is building an Empowerment Center to house and provide resources for 35 men and women from the local tent community facing displacement from the city.
Many of these individuals have faced severe trials in life and are without a strong support system or present families. Upon learning about the crisis in the tent community, we could not turn a blind eye and knew we had to be change agents.
The local government, local businesses, and passionate individuals have provided support by sponsoring necessities. However, the facility needs funding for:
- 35 Beds
- Privacy Fence
- Washing Machines
- Toiletries
- Computers
- Landlines
- Daily Necessities
- Staff
The vision for this center is to provide hope, not just shelter. Individuals will be given resources to build necessary life skills, find employment, and obtain stable housing. By meeting needs with compassion, the homelessness crisis can be met with love-led action.
We need to raise at least $5,000 by next Tuesday to provide temporary shelter for 10 members of the tent community. Within the next month, we need to raise a total of $15,000 to continue furnishing the facility.
As reported in York’s local news, this has been a city-wide effort to feed, house, and provide community for our neighbors with nowhere to go. Temple of Grace Ministries is working hard to partner with community members and complete the facilities as quickly as possible to move the people from the tents into a stable and safe shelter.
We have the privilege of calling some of the members of the tent community friends and church members as they have joined us for Love Thy Neighbor, a ministry within Temple of Grace Ministries that provides breakfast and a church service for those in addiction recovery.
