In many rural communities in Cameroon, the distance to clean water is measured in miles, and the path to education is blocked by a lack of resources. Women and children often bear the heaviest burden, yet they hold the key to the country’s future. My name is Azeezat Gbadamosi, and as a volunteer for APWCR (Association for the Protection of Women's and Children's Rights), I am on a mission to bring sustainable change to these resilient communities.
The Mission: 5 Pillars of Change
We aren't just giving hand-outs; we are building systems. Your donation will go directly toward five critical areas of development in Cameroon:
1) Clean Water: Drilling solar-powered wells to eliminate water-borne diseases and save girls hours of walking every day.
2) Solar Energy: Providing renewable power to clinics and schools, allowing for safe medical procedures and nighttime study.
3) Education: Providing scholarships, school supplies, and safe learning environments for internally displaced children.
4) Healthcare: Supporting mobile clinics and maternal health resources for mothers in remote areas.
5) Women’s Empowerment: Vocational training and micro-loans for women to start small businesses and gain financial independence.
APWCR has been active in Cameroon since 1999 (and has Special Consultative Status with the UN ECOSOC). They have a proven track record of standing up for human rights and protecting the most vulnerable. By donating to this campaign, you are partnering with an organization that is already on the ground, knows the culture, and understands the specific needs of the people.
Where Your Money Goes:
$25 can provide school supplies for a child for a semester.
$100 can provide a "Business Starter Kit" for a woman in our vocational program.
$500 can help fund the installation of solar lighting in a community center.
$1,000+ goes toward major infrastructure like clean water boreholes.
Every dollar represents a step toward a more equitable and sustainable Cameroon. If you cannot donate at this time, please share this link with your network. Your voice is just as powerful as your wallet.
Thank you for standing with us and the people of Cameroon.
