Empowering Mexican women through microlending

In 2018 a small group of women friends in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, decided to create an NGO to empower local Mexican women to pull themselves out of poverty through microlending -- and so, Mano Amiga was born.  Through Mano Amiga, we provide financial training, mentoring, and microloans to women in the San Miguel de Allende area who lack access to affordable credit, giving them the means to build successful small businesses that benefit not only their families but also their communities. 

We select applicants with the drive and commitment to succeed.  Mano Amiga's microloans typically range from $5,000-10,000 pesos (USD $250-$500).  When each microentrepreneur pays back her loan, we grant a new loan with those funds to another deserving woman. ​ We've already successfully provided microloans to 14 women and are now seeking help from our friends and family to fund the next round of entrepreneurs.  We already have many of the women selected -- we just need the funds to make it happen!  ​
