I am Tejasvi Irrinki, an 8th-grader from Oak Valley Middle School, San Diego, CA. I’ve always been very proud of my Indian heritage, my summers consisting of visits to my grandparents in Attili, Andhra Pradesh, India has always felt magical, having this electric energy. After retiring, My grandfather's dedication to social service, particularly as the Secretary of the "Lions Club" in our village, has been a significant inspiration. Witnessing firsthand the impact of their health services for the underprivileged has deeply touched me.

Recently, I learned about the challenges faced by individuals in my grandparents' village in accessing dialysis treatment. My heartfelt concern for their well-being has transformed into a strong sense of purpose, driving me to make a meaningful difference in their lives.

In the outskirts of Attili, W.G.Dst, India, residents from 50 villages seek labor work in rural areas to sustain their livelihoods. However, the demanding work environment, coupled with the use of painkillers for unrelated issues, often leads them to seek medical attention upon returning home. Back pain, leg pains, and other health concerns are frequently reported, ultimately diagnosed as kidney problems. Moreover, individuals with diabetes often require dialysis treatment, further complicating their health challenges.

Statistics indicate that around 300 individuals in the surrounding district require dialysis treatment. Unfortunately, accessing dialysis services is a significant challenge for residents, often requiring long journeys to distant locations. A heartfelt response to this adversity Lions Club have pledged to ensure universal access to the dialysis unit by the end of June, making it freely available to all in need.

All members of Lions Club have generously contributed and so far managed to lay a 2000 sq.ft slab on a 360-yard area. While the building is still in progress,they are already looking ahead and planning to acquire dialysis equipment and ensure to have trained technicians ready to operate them.
