Hi all, I'm Clint Hoffar, a teacher at Glendale Middle School and founder of Glendale Climbing Club. The Glendale Climbing Club has been a club for 3 years where we have been getting students of all different backgrounds, ethnicities, and socioeconomic statuses out into the mountains and into the gym to experience climbing.
The students have been going to the gym weekly and to the mountains when the weather permits, once a month. It's been such a tremendous joy seeing the confidence that spills out of these students when they top out a route or finish a boulder problem. They are learning independence, hard work, failure, and problem-solving all while moving their bodies and finding a love for the outdoors.
What we need is some help funding for our weekly gym attendance. We are looking at around $15 a day per student to get into the gym. We try to go once a week; however, this year, prices may make that nearly impossible for us to do without your help. The weekly gym practice allows students to build and hone skills, preparing them for when we go outside climbing in the Cottonwood Canyons. All this while developing friendships, problem-solving skills, and confidence.
Any amount will help and thank you so much for the support!
