My name is Mohammed, a young Palestinian engineer who escaped from Gaza last year. I’m writing to you not just for myself, but on behalf of my family who remains trapped in Gaza. My family and others, continue to endure unimaginable hardships and its been over a year. The war and blockade has altered peoples lives permanently.
For myself, I experienced the genocide first-hand for 175 days before I managed to escape; on March 30, 2024. I was one of the last to leave as it was just few days before the Rafah border was permanently closed.
While I was fortunate to use my education to escape and get abroad, because of my academic grades, I am just one of thousands.
What makes it harder now, is knowing I am in a better place while my family is still trapped. They continue enduring the nightmare.
Their Reality in Gaza
- 18+ months of war and blockade
- No home. No stable income.
- Food is rare and water is scarce.
- Constant airstrikes and unimaginable trauma
- Food prices have skyrocketed. Basic needs like bread, rice, and vegetables are unaffordable. Electricity and water are intermittent luxuries.
In the middle of this my younger 23 year old brother, is trying to finish his final year at Al-Azhar University in Gaza. Amongst the rubble, he studies online, using any power he can find. This is his only passport to dream of a better future one day and leave like I did. Education remains our lifeline of hope. His final few months require our family to pay his remaining tuition fees, so he can get his degree. With that degree, he will able (one day) to leave and build his life. Education and Freedom go hand in hand for us in Gaza.

The continuous bombing and instability have left little hope for Gazans. We dream only of one day getting out when a ceasefire allows, to rebuild safely in Egypt and then, one day join me after I graduate within a few months.
My family has lost nearly everything, but we haven’t lost hope.
We believe in education. We believe in dignity. We believe that rebuilding starts with people, and this is our chance to take the first step toward safety and a future.
Your support can make this possible.

A bit more about me.
While I escaped, they didn’t. Im a Masters Student in Public Policy. I’m using my education to fight for a better future. Each night I am looking at the news in terror. I only wish that all people have the chance to freedom. Its hard for me to focus on my studies while my family goes hungry and my brother's future slips away.
This is more than just a financial request; it's a plea for humanity. Your support will not only provide immediate relief but also secure a future for my brother and my family, offering them a chance at dignity and peace. Every share, every dollar, brings us closer to helping my family survive and thrive.
