Help build a Ugandan Women's Empowerment Centre

I’m Prossy Namirembe, and I’m on a mission to create a haven of empowerment for women in Mpigi District, Uganda. I invite you to be a part of “EmpowerHER Wellness,” a Women’s Empowerment Community Center that will uplift women as they navigate menopause and the associated health challenges.

Our journey has begun with the physical space, but we need your support to bring it to life. As a Ugandan Social Scientist and a member of the community, I have witnessed firsthand the unspoken struggles faced by women. Working alongside them in farming activities, I discovered their stories of resilience, sacrifices, and unmet health needs.

These remarkable women, often breadwinners and homemakers, battle through backaches, hot flashes, diabetes, hypertension, and obesity. The high cost of treatment and lack of knowledge exacerbate their challenges. Together we can change this narrative.

My vision is a community center where women gather to share, learn, and overcome their health challenges – a space where menopause is not whispered but discussed openly. Our center aims to create connections, dispel myths, and provide tools to manage menopause and Non-Communicable Diseases.

To ensure sustainability, we plan to house a supermarket and cafeteria, fostering self-reliance. A volunteer Care Team of medical officers and counselors stands ready, united by compassion. Your support will turn this vision into reality, empowering generations with knowledge, solidarity, and hope.

Construction is already underway and we are actively seeking £12,000 to finish and equip the facility. Any surplus funds we collect beyond our initial target will be allocated to purchase audio visual equipment, health information materials, and vital health monitoring devices for hypertension and diabetes.
