Lake County Immigrant Advocacy (LCIA) and the planning team for Empowered Together is fundraising for the starting, paperwork, and consultant costs for the nonprofit we are planning in the Lake County area. Below is more information about the mission, vision, values, and programs of our coming nonprofit Empowered Together. We are hoping to become official by the end of this year! Mission:
Empowering underrepresented people to transform their lives, their communities, and their environments
Vision:
We envision an end to historical oppression in all Lake County institutions and strive to build a society based on equity, social justice, and solidarity for all underrepresented people.
We envision a Lake County where all underrepresented people have access to opportunities for well-being, economic success, academic advancement, community involvement, safe neighborhoods, and healthy environments.
We envision a Lake County where underrepresented people have the tools to transform their lives and their communities. Empowered Together will found cultural and community centers in Lake County that assist them in these goals by teaching them how to
-navigate and join the civic process
-lead efforts for community improvement
-work for healthy air, water, and land
-learn about their inspiring cultural heritage
-heal intergenerational trauma
-express themselves through healthy avenues and
-build community power and solidarity
Program goals:
Education: All students and families have access to opportunities for high-quality education, economic success, community involvement, and wellbeing
Community Empowerment: All community members learn how to challenge oppression, to participate and lead in the civic process, and to advance their community’s well-being
Arts and Cultural Expression: All community members have access to cultural and arts programming so that they can express themselves, connect with their cultural heritage, and participate in healthy habits
Community Building: Work collaboratively with local organizations in order to ensure that the local community is best served and empowered
