This GoFundMe supports Duu Nga'a, an Indigenous women's textile cooperative in Teotitlán del Valle, Oaxaca, Mexico. These women connect and maintain their communities through their dedication to preserving ancestral artistic practices. By using sustainable techniques of natural dyeing their handwoven textiles, they ensure that their traditions and beliefs endure through generations.. Each woven piece tells a story, infused with symbolism, history, and a deep connection to the land. Through their craft, they not only sustain their families but they also empower future generations to embrace and continue this important art form.
These funds will help the women at Duu Nga'a continue their artistic traditions, and will support them in their every day lives.
The fundraiser is organized by Grace Miller-Trabold, an undergraduate student who is working with these women to help them organize art workshops for youth in their community, and also in the United States. These art workshops for youth will encourage the continuation of these important artistic practices.
