My name is Dionne. I am the Founder of The Wahine Project, est. in 2010. Our mission is to eliminate barriers that prevent a diversity of youth from a relationship with the ocean. In 2023 we began a program serving youth and young adults ages 4-22 years old who are living with disabilities, to provide the first accessible year round beach program in all of California. We serve diverse humans living with diverse disabilities providing all equipment and transportation to and from their schools throughout the Monterey Peninsula. We have been able to serve approximately 600 youth giving them new opportunities to explore the beach and ocean. With your support we can continue to provide this year round program so no child is excluded. Every child regardless of ability should have the opportunity to have a relationship with the ocean.
