Hello, my name is Lakeisha Cooke, and I am a woman in lifelong recovery, I experienced first hand the difficulty of navigating through life with an undiagnosed mental illness and a deep longing for belonging. For much of my life, I followed a blueprint of who I was told I should be—what my life was supposed to look like—without ever truly knowing who I was.
In my late thirties, tragedy struck. My mother—the author of my life, my anchor, my guide—passed away. When she left, a part of me left with her. I was lost, afraid, and drowning in grief. Searching desperately for comfort, I turned to anything that could numb the pain. That search led me down a path of incarceration and rehabilitation—cycling in and out of jails and treatment centers that never truly prepared me for sober living in the real world.
What I needed wasn’t just sobriety—I needed tools, support, and a sense of purpose. I needed to be prepared for life after survival.
Evelyn’s Eyes To The Soul was born from that need.
This organization is designed to ensure a successful and lasting transition for women entering sober living. It prepares women for the realities of life once they choose to live—to live fully, rather than die in the streets or continue patterns of crime that could lead to lifelong incarceration. Evelyn’s Eyes to the Soul offers more than recovery; it offers guidance, accountability, and empowerment.
Through intentional support, women are equipped to face real life with strength, confidence, and resilience—building continuous sobriety as they transition, heal, and grow stronger in their recovery.
This is more than a program.
It is a bridge.
It is hope.
It is survival turned into purpose.
