Thanks for considering or sharing this fundraiser to include teens who need scholarships to participate in our high school snow skiing and snowboard club. Our parents and alumni consistently donate, my co-leader, Alex Taraschi, and I run the club as unpaid volunteers due to budget cuts, our school pays for most of the bus cost, and Pleasant Mountain provides one scholarship because we bring so many new members every year. Nonetheless, $335 is a lot of money to come up with for rentals, lessons, and 4 lift tickets. This is where you come in.
Who cares who goes skiing? This fundraiser will allow disadvantaged teens to experience winter sports and that matters. Although you never know what kind of activity will entice a high school student in 2025 to be more engaged in their education and future, I can tell you our school is a good bet. We have a proven track record of success for all our students despite low-income challenges for half of our families and this is not a seed grant fundraiser. This is inclusion and equity work being done by a well-functioning school ecosystem with every dollar being passed along to costs of skiing and positive feedback given by a school staff that knows how to care for, encourage, and push kids to get ready for success after high school.
