Title: Stand with Us in the Fight: Launching Our Solidarity Fund
UPDATE 11/13: The owner filed for a temporary closure to avoid meeting our unfair labor practice strike demands. The union staff is majorly struggling to find part time work in this job market. We have raised our donation goal because some of the staff is facing food scarcity and digging themselves into debt. We appreciate everyone supporting us right now and always remember…. Workers rights are queer rights!!!
UPDATE! 10/03 WE ARE ALL ON STRIKE!!!
Your donations mean more than ever right now. Since proposing our union to our owner, Mary Peterson, we have faced a litany of illegal labor practices. Eight of us have been fired, rehired and, some fired again. Several of us have been handed our “final written warning” for breaking policies that were not created prior to this union effort. We have been harassed in and out of the workplace at all hours of the night, threatened, and exploited. Union buttons or gear have been banned from the bar as well.
WHAT WILL MAKE US COME OFF STRIKE?
-Hire back our head of security who was illegally fired
-Retract the tedious and entrapping policies that have been created as means to punish us
Thank you for all this support it’s been truly such an emotional experience for us!

We, the workers of SunTrapp, are the stewards of a crucial safe space for SLC’s LGBTQ+ community. To secure the future of this space and the workers who sustain it, we are forming a union. We want to stand in solidarity with all service workers in Utah and fight for better working conditions for all of us, not just the staff at the SunTrapp.
True strength is preparation. As we take this step, we are launching a Solidarity Fund to protect every worker. This fund ensures that if anyone faces retaliation for exercising our legal right to organize, we have the resources to support them immediately. Your donations would help us with any lawyer fees, providing personal protective equipment to striking workers and protestors, picket line materials, and most importantly, funds to survive if any of us are terminated from the job we love so much. For most of the staff, the money we make at the SunTrapp is our only means of survival in this economy. Your donations give us a sense of security and mean the world to us in this uphill battle we are entering.
By contributing now, you help us prevent hardship before it can happen. You’re not just donating; you’re fortifying our cause, demonstrating to management that our community is united, and giving us the moral and financial leverage to secure a fair contract without fear. We love all our patrons and are so thankful for the support!!! <3
Help us build our shield. Donate to empower our fight for fairness.
