Support the Jenora Compassion Project: Empowering Children in Northern Nigeria

The Jenora Compassion Project is a community-driven initiative dedicated to empowering youth and children in Nigeria through education and access to essential resources. Our past work has included scholarships to send children to school and charity visits in the community.

This summer, we are focusing on providing critical support to school children in Northern Nigeria. Many of these children struggle to attend school due to financial constraints, let alone afford basic learning materials such as books, writing materials, school bags, and school uniforms.

According to UNICEF's 2023 Nigeria Education Facts Sheets, Northern Nigeria has the lowest school completion rates in the country, particularly among girls. In 2024, UNICEF also reported that 44% of girls in Nigeria are married before the age of 18, ranking the country third in the world for child marriage prevalence. This issue predominantly affects girls from the poorest households and those with little to no education. By providing school materials, we hope to encourage more children in school, especially girls, and give them a better chance at a brighter future.

Even beyond education, we know that a child's well-being extends to their basic hygiene and dignity. Most of these children rarely have access to basic needs (food, water, shelter), thereby making hygiene an overlooked yet critical need. That's why we also plan to distribute essential sanitary items such as detergent, toothbrushes, toothpaste, sanitary pads, and bathing soap, to help improve their daily lives.

Taking advantage of the dollar-to-naira exchange, even small contributions can make a big impact. For example, a $10 donation can provide a child with a startup pack which includes a school uniform, notebooks, and a school bag. Our goal is to support at least 400 school children. Every donation, no matter the amount, brings us closer to giving these children the resources to live and learn comfortably.
