Empower Nakivale Refugees: Education, Hope & Sustainabity
Donation protected
Hello, I'm Leonce Bakenga, representing Hope for Refugees Organization.
Our organization is deeply committed to improving the lives of refugees in Nakivale Refugee Camp, the 8th largest camp in the world, located in western Uganda. This camp is home to over 150,000 refugees, many of whom face critical challenges such as limited access to education, food shortages, women's rights violations, early pregnancies among teenagers, and child abuse.
Our mission is to tackle these pressing issues through initiatives focused on education, women’s empowerment, community development, mental health support, and food security. Over the past three years, we have made a meaningful impact by:
Providing free education to hundreds of vulnerable children, including those living on the streets.
Empowering women through livelihood training programs that equip them with practical skills.
Training hundreds of refugees in permaculture and agriculture to promote food sustainability.
Leading mental well-being workshops using the Three Principles to foster resilience and hope.
Our Vision for the Future While we've made significant progress, our work is far from finished. To expand our efforts, we urgently need your support. Our current priorities include:
Establishing a dedicated center for our educational programs, where we can teach vulnerable children and provide them with the tools for a brighter future.
Securing school supplies such as desks, blackboards, and books to enhance the learning experience.
Acquiring 15 sewing machines to support our women’s empowerment and livelihood training programs.
Obtaining essential materials for food security initiatives, including seeds and agricultural supplies.
Expanding our mental well-being training sessions focused on the Three Principles to reach more refugees.
Our Goal We aim to raise $5,800 to achieve these objectives. Your contribution will help us:
Build and furnish a center for education and community development.
Purchase sewing machines and other supplies for our women’s empowerment programs.
Support our permaculture and mental health initiatives, bringing both stability and hope to the refugee community.
How You Can Help Every donation, no matter the size, will directly support our projects and make a tangible difference in the lives of refugees. We’ll keep you updated on the progress of our initiatives, so you can see the impact of your generosity.
We invite you to view the photos of our ongoing projects below and visit our Facebook page to learn more about our work. Together, we can create lasting change and bring hope to the refugees of Nakivale Camp.
Thank you for considering being a part of this life-changing journey. Your support truly makes a difference.
