Empower Maia's Fight for a Safe Future

Hello! My name is Maia and I am a mama to 2 beautiful children.
In March, my children and I left our home due to a domestic violence situation.
Since then, we have been in a big transition into safety and stability.
After multiple separations and over 5 reported cases of domestic violence,
I chose to gain custody of my daughter and abandon our shared home in seek of safety.
In April, I checked into a DV shelter and stayed as long as I could before having to move on, as the shelters do not allow extended stays.
Soon after we left the shelter, I lost the remote job I was working due to too much unpaid leave and an inability to return.
We continued to relocate to wherever kept us safe, being graciously held in the arms of community members and friends as we navigated the trenches of instability in a scary, uncertain time.
There are legal matters still being resolved in this situation.
Now, after almost 4 months of upheaval and stress, we are returning home to pack up our life, and start again in a new space where we can celebrate finding solid ground.
As I navigate the intense grief surrounding this separation, I am doing my best to keep up with everything that I have been challenged to do alone, and have felt the incessant pull to be humble and to reach my hand out.
My mental health is paramount to the wellbeing of my children, and I am leaning on my village for support now.
I intend on continuing to encourage and educate myself and others on the path to sovereignty and out of toxic, unhealthy situations.
I am on a journey to creating a sustainable change in my life so that my kids can have a NOW where they know they are free to roam and play with no stress and no fear.
Anything will help us in our journey forward.
Donations will go towards the most important things our family needs right now:
$250 Overdue utility bill (UPDATE: PAID)
$200 Car Insurance
$100 Vehicle Registration fees
$80 Oil change
$500 Rent Deposit
$75 U-Haul
$180 Security System
After prioritized expenses are paid off, funds will be allocated to food, gas, and regular living expenses to maintain our family such as diapers, wipes and laundry soap.
Thank you for taking the time to support us and share your experience - we appreciate all of the support, words of encouragement and love being sent our way.
We appreciate you!
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I intend to give updates as I continue to work towards stability.
