Empower Lillian Hawkins' Historic Civic Duty

Dear friends, family, and supporters,

My name is Lillian Hawkins and I have exciting news to share with you and seek your support for a unique and historic opportunity. I have been elected to serve on the credentials committee at the Democratic National Convention in August in support of Vice President Kamala Harris. This is a once in a lifetime chance to contribute to our nation's progress and ensure that every voice is heard in the fight to move our country forward where everyone can thrive.

A little bit about me: I am a proud mother, a dedicated caregiver for my elderly mom, and the first woman of color to have served as president of AFSCME, Local 21 DC. I am also a proud graduate of the Harvard Trade Union Program, the 2nd Vice Chair of the 32nd Legislative District Democrats, and an elected Precinct Committee Officer. My educational journey includes graduating with honors from both the University of Washington and Shoreline Community College. Additionally, I’m a business owner committed to empowering my community.

My unwavering support for VP Kamala Harris stems from the transformative impact the Biden-Harris administration has had on my life. After working in the public sector for the past 18 years, I became eligible for the student loan forgiveness program introduced by this administration. This monumental relief allowed me to have my student loans forgiven, which opened doors I once thought were beyond reach.

Thanks to this student debt relief, I have achieved the dream of homeownership, a milestone I never imagined possible. This stability has enabled me to provide a secure and loving home for my 80-year-old mother, ensuring she receives the care she deserves. Moreover, I am now able to pass down generational wealth to my son and his future children, breaking the cycle of financial strain and creating opportunities for generations to come.

Attending the Democratic National Convention is not only a personal honor, but also my civic duty I am passionate about fulfilling. By being a part of this historic event, I aim to amplify the voices of those who believe in progress, equity, equality, and a brighter future for all. Serving on the credentials committee will allow me to play a vital role, ensuring that our democratic process is fair, just, and inclusive.

To make this dream a reality, I am seeking to raise $7000 to cover the cost of travel, accommodation, participation in the convention and special convention events that have just been posted. Your generous contributions will enable me to represent our shared values and advocate for the policies that have changed my life and the lives of countless others.
