Empower Leiyomi to Represent Diverse Youth at DNC

Help support diverse youth and marginalized voices to get to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago! Center and reinforce youth-centered solutions in Kitsap and in our National Democratic Party!

Every single one of us has a part in protecting democracy and creating a more equitable and just nation. My name is Leiyomi Preciado and I am humbled to be elected as an At-Large National Delegate from Washington State. Now more than ever, we need diverse representation and expertise to assist in creating solutions that work for all of us and most importantly, those most in need. That is why I am asking for your support in elevating and bringing the voices of those most marginalized and affected to the tables of collaboration and decision making.

As a Filipina, Mexican, Indigenous American, queer person living with a disability and born from immigrant parents, I need your help in getting to Chicago so that I can share and amplify my communities’ voices and stories. To make this a reality, we must raise $4,500 to be able to attend the Democratic National Convention in Chicago from August 18th through August 23rd and cover all expenses associated with this once in a lifetime opportunity. As current Chair of the Young Democrats of Kitsap Peninsula and Vice President of Government and Political Affairs, I hope to inspire youth and marginalized community members in getting more involved in utilizing their voices and votes to impact our government in positive ways. As a member of both Kitsap County Democrats and 23rd LD Democrats Board, I hope to bring back information on how to strengthen our relationship with our community and other democratically aligned organizations.

My Lola always said, “If you want to change the World, you have to get involved.” I have taken those words to heart and hope to honor her memory with your support by attending the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. As I have done in the past, like running for elected office as the first openly trans person in Kitsap, I hope to continue to break glass ceilings. And even if I don’t break some of them, I hope to make enough cracks so that youth and future generations can advocate, run, and lead.
