Hello,

My name is Ben Doolittle........and to know me is to know I love to sail. I find sailing to be an incredible way to engage the mind, body and soul all in one endeavor. The moment the dock lines are untied and the boat enters the world aquatic the magic begins.

I am incredibly lucky that my parents introduced me to sailing at a young age and it has captured my imagination ever since.

It shocks me that there are kids here in Sacramento that will tell you they have never been to the snow or never been to the beach.

My intention last year was to introduce 10 kids to sailing that might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate. Due to your generosity, we actually ended up funding all 10. And with the support of the Lake Washington Sailing Club we actually were able to have the 15 kids who signed up receive lessons.

This year, I will be working with friends and family in the Sacramento area to find 15 participants (age 8-18) that have not had the same opportunities that many of us take for granted. (Feel free to nominate someone that you think would be interested).

Our primary partner is the Lake Washington Sailing Club in West Sacramento which offers a wonderful week long sailing class for Juniors for $200. I want to raise enough to sponsor 15 kids for a week.

A donation of just $40 will provide one youngster a chance to sail for a day, $200 and they are sailing for the whole week.

Please join me in contributing to this worthy cause. You will be helping a young individual enjoy an experience that they simply would not have access to otherwise, encourage an "outdoors in nature" mindset, learn a number of STEM principles, expand their horizons to the farthest corners of the world.......or maybe just get their nose out of their i-phone for a few wonderful hours!!
