La Saladita Guerrero is storied for its dreamy waves and mellow vibes. Businesses marketing symbiotic living flock to take advantage of tourist dollars and benefit from cheap labor and land, never taking into consideration the local communities health and wellness.

While millions are invested in infrastructure for tourists to play the children of the town are left with a weathered basketball court and an undermaintained soccer pitch to gather.

The art of Jiu Jitsu has changed my life both mentally and physically, I have come to learn it's power in building community and teaching discipline, emotional regulation, self respect, and respect for others. As such upon moving to La Saladita I set out to build a dojo as a way to connect with community and provide a safe space to learn and grow for people from all walks of life, with the number one goal being to connect with local children.

I've secured the space and built the mat, one month in we have seen tons interest from the local children and are looking to open our doors to as many as possible. The operational costs are small but not insignificant and as locals live day to day on what work they can summon I am reaching out to my network to help sponsor these children so they can take part without concern for payment.

The cost for us to operate is just $25 (500 MXN) per child per month, in this first wave we are looking to fund 6 months of training for 10 children, a total of $1,500 (30,000 MXN) will keep our doors open and allow us to grow our program to be fully self sufficient.
