Empower Kayla Bragg: A Beacon of Community Hope

I am organizing this GoFundMe for Kayla Bragg, a dedicated case manager for Bridges Outreach in Newark, NJ, who has become a valued colleague and a dear friend of mine over the past few years that I've been privileged to work with collaboratively. Her personal journey from homelessness to empowerment drives her passion for helping others in the community. I asked Kayla if she would permit me to share her story and organize this fundraiser for her after she humbly reached out to me asking if I knew of any resources for assistance with finances. I was unable to provide her with any relevant information, and she expressed her deepest gratitude while she agreed to allow me to disclose. At my request, when I asked Kayla to put together a brief bio for me that I could share, she sent me the following, which I can personally attest to every single word of it being written in truth:

"From 2014 to 2018, I faced the challenges of homelessness alongside my son, Levi, enduring countless struggles yet emerging with resilience and compassion. Now a single mother, I pour my heart into my work, providing vital support and resources to those facing similar hardships in my community.

My kindness and empathy shine through in every interaction with the people I serve, as I understand their struggles firsthand. However, despite my unwavering commitment to helping others, I have recently fallen behind on my own bills, threatening the stability I have worked so hard to achieve. I embody the spirit of perseverance and community service, but I now need your support to regain my footing.

By assisting me, not only will you be helping a remarkable individual, which I can confidently express today from a place of self-love and in recognizing my worth, but you will also empower a dedicated advocate for those in need. I am a firm believer in the power of love and community, and I have faith in the good people out there who are willing to extend a helping hand to a stranger. Because of these efforts I am putting forth to help support a friend who was once a stranger to me also, I live to love, I love my community, and I am taking this leap of faith now as I share Kayla's story with all of you. In organizing this fundraiser for her, I will remain hopeful that there are still good people out there in the world who will help her so that she can keep helping others with her lived experience and with her genuinely pure heart.
