Holt High School respectfully requests grant funding to support our choir’s educational trip to New York City from February 13–16, 2026. This transformative experience will provide approximately 100 students with the opportunity to perform in world-renowned venues, participate in professional workshops, and immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage of one of the world’s greatest cities. We are seeking a total of $100,000 to help cover travel, lodging, workshop fees, and performance expenses, ensuring that all students—regardless of financial background—can participate. Although the need is more than that, we want to focus our fundraising efforts to cover main expenses.

Holt High School serves a diverse student body, with almost 40% of students qualifying for free or reduced lunch. Many of our choir members have never traveled outside the state, and financial barriers often prevent them from accessing enrichment opportunities. The total cost per student for this trip is approximately $1,700, which includes transportation, accommodations, meals, workshop fees, and performance costs. Without external funding, many talented and deserving students will be unable to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime educational experience.

This fundraising grant initiative will significantly benefit our school, students, and the broader community. By enabling all choir members to participate in the New York City trip, we promote inclusivity and remove financial barriers to educational enrichment. Students will have the opportunity to engage in professional workshops, performances, and cultural exposure, which will enhance their musical skills, confidence, and leadership development. The insights and inspiration gained will contribute to our school's arts programs and motivate their peers. Additionally, involving the community in this effort strengthens local connections and highlights the importance of collective support for youth growth. Ultimately, this initiative aims to foster well-rounded, culturally aware individuals who are better equipped to contribute positively to society.
