Greetings Family and Friends,
I have recently been given the opportunity to work with an incredible organization, the Global Acupuncture Project, as a trainer in Guatemala from January 27th-31st, 2025. GAP is a nonprofit corporation that helps train healthcare providers in other countries where there is limited access to healthcare to use simple and effective acupuncture protocols to treat patients in their area. This is an incredible model because although going to other countries such as these and giving some acupuncture treatments and then leaving is great, however, empowering healthcare providers in the area who understand the culture and are there to give continuing treatment is even better. I have the opportunity to be one of the trainers working in Guatemala for the second series of training being given there, the first having been given in September '24. Being that I love acupuncture, have a deep desire to be of service to people, especially those with limited access to healthcare, I speak Spanish, and I enjoy teaching, this position is a great fit for me and I am so excited for the opportunity.
In order to be a trainer for this trip, I have to cover the costs of the flight, which is around $500, the program fee, which is $450 and covers the cost of in-country lodging, travel, breakfast, and lunch, and a portion of the training cost. I am also responsible for other travel expenses such as dinner, bus fare, and other basic expenses, which is why I set the goal for this GoFundMe at $1700. The donation from this campaign goes directly to GAP, is tax-deductible, and I will be reimbursed for the expenses mentioned. Any outstanding money from the campaign will go directly to the organization.
I am asking for this donation because as I just discovered this project, I don't have the extra funds to cover the requirements, and time is of the essence with the trip being in this coming January. Thank you so much for considering; even the smallest amounts add up. Please also share with your networks and community.
Please visit the website for more information about the project:
"The Global Acupuncture Project has been working in Uganda since 2003 and Mexico since 2013, promotes the adoption and use of acupuncture to reduce pain and suffering, improve quality of life, and help to instill a greater sense of hope. The core approach of GAP is to train healthcare providers how to use a simple, effective form of acupuncture and integrate it into the healthcare facilities where they work."
