Hello, my name is Mary Van Eeckhout, and I’m raising funds to travel to Tanzania for an exciting volunteer opportunity with Girls Run Global. In May, the organization is partnering with the SEGA Girls’ Secondary School to empower young girls through running, while encouraging them to set big goals and become leaders in their communities. Through this initiative, we aim to uplift these girls, improve their overall well-being, enhance classroom performance, and inspire them to pursue their dreams. This is the second year Girls Run Global is working with the SEGA school, and I am thrilled to be part of the team, helping guide and support these incredible girls.

The SEGA Girls’ Secondary School was founded by Nurturing Minds in 2007 with the vision to provide marginalized Tanzanian girls with a quality education, helping them escape poverty and exploitation. Over the years, SEGA has empowered countless young women, and today it provides scholarships for 290 girls, many of whom live on the beautiful 30-acre campus. If I am unable to meet my fundraising goal or attend this volunteer trip, all donations will be directly contributed to the SEGA school to support its mission.
