Food and resources are scarce in the communities we work in especially the Jamestown Community and the GBEKKI School as we hope to make an impact in the lives of so many children advocating for education and resources. We see the need and lack of funding resources to support and make a difference in the lives of so many underprivileged communities in Ghana as well as create a sustainable infrastructure for development.
Since 2017, F.I.R.E. (Free Inspiration Reaching Everyone), a 501c3 nonprofit organization based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Ghana, West Africa, has been holding an annual mission and impact trip to Ghana, encouraging the diaspora to visit, take tours, enjoy social events, and be part of the philanthropic efforts and investment opportunities. The “Inspiration Weekend” is an impact trip filled with a month of events throughout Ghana. It started out as a basketball tournament, introducing the students to the game and providing a platform for them to showcase their talent for the world to see for future opportunities. The event quickly led to the addition of more sports such as volleyball, swimming, and water polo, as we curated more activities and events through the various schools, villages, and communities of Ghana.
In our impact travels through Ghana, the FIRE organization has donated over 9,000+ items, including sneakers, books, school supplies, clothing, and laptops, and even set up 2 computer labs in the Volta Region schools in Kedzi, Keta, and Anyako communities. These laptops are being used to roll out the pen-pal program, a cultural initiative to create connections, communications, and peer-to-peer interactions with students from Ghana and abroad. We hope to do more with your help to bring more resources and create more opportunities for these youth to excel.
We understand the importance of technology and its impact on society, and our goal is to provide access to such tools for those students in the community of Jamestown. The impact the FIRE organization looks to make is long-lasting and a sustainable relationship that will cultivate throughout years to come as students get to connect with one another abroad through these devices and are able to share in various interactive experiences.
