Who we are:

Hello! My name is Christina Lindhout and I’m a dance educator, choreographer, and director based in Cleveland, Ohio. Since the beginning of my choreographic and teaching career, my mission has been to showcase contemporary dance as a powerful and relevant vehicle for communication, connectedness, joy, and change.

I also believe in the power of platforming independent freelance artists. The presence and visibility of freelance dance artists is vital to the artistic health of our community. Not being a part of a traditional dance company is oftentimes a barrier to entry for freelance performing artists, who typically have significantly fewer opportunities to work within their craft and share their stories with audiences. As part of that mission, I lead an independent project-based group of artists called Christina Lindhout & Artists.

What we are doing:

We have big news! Christina Lindhout & Artists has created and performed our sixth world premiere dance performance! (gahhhh!)
The piece is called our knees hurt, and it premiered in May 2025 to a sold out audience at Cleveland Public Theatre’s DanceWorks series! (Double gahhh!) Since then, we have been selected to perform the work at Playhouse Square, Cleveland Public Theatre, and Baldwin Wallace University.

our knees hurt is about female-identifying bodies and what it means to have one. The piece will explore the centuries-long battles female-identifying people have been fighting (and continue to fight) for our own bodily autonomy, self-esteem, and equal treatment within a system that was not built with us in mind, and within which our dignity is deemed negotiable. This is a project that has been on my mind and heart for quite some time, and stems from the anger, fear, urgency, and abandonment that many female-identifying people are feeling at this pivotal and regressive moment in history.

The subject matter of the piece is rather heavy and, unfortunately, inherently political in our current cultural climate. It is my hope that this piece adds depth, perspective, empathy, and ultimately demonstrate that these are not political issues, but human ones. our knees hurt does not aim to answer questions or offer solutions, only to share stories and perspectives of female-identifying people.

What we are asking of you:

The thing is: art costs money (for those counting, that’s a triple
gahhh!). We believe in the power of art and performance to impact minds and hearts. I also believe that artists should be paid for their talent and expertise. That is why we are humbly asking for your support in the creation of our work. Every cent we raise up to our fundraising goal of $9,500 will go to the dancers, musicians, and designers that give hundreds of hours to make each one of our performances a reality.

Anything earned above our fundraising goal will be proudly donated to the National Organization for Women's Greater Cleveland chapter to help them continue their life-saving work within our community here in Northeast Ohio. The National Organization for Women supports work that focuses on protecting reproductive rights, ending sex discrimination/promoting constitutional equality, promoting diversity and ending racism, fighting for economic justice, stopping violence against women, and promoting and protecting LGBTQIA rights. For more information you can visit https://now.org/chapter/greater-cleveland-now/

If you feel moved to support the mission of Christina Lindhout & Artists, our team would be incredibly grateful. No amount is too small.

If you are unable to support, that’s ok too! We would be honored if you would spread the word about our work and (if you feel comfortable doing so) sharing our fundraiser!

Please also consider coming to one of our upcoming performances and saying hi! We would love to see you!! All upcoming show information can be found at ChristinaLindhout.com.

With care and an unending belief in the power of art,

~Christina Lindhout & Artists
