Blindmasters Reader - GoFundMe Story
We are raising funds to build and expand Blindmasters Reader, an accessibility-first reading and communication app created for blind and visually impaired people.
Blindmasters Reader was made because access to books, documents, images, videos, and shared learning materials should not depend on whether someone can see a screen. Too many blind users still have to fight with apps that were designed visually first and made accessible later, if at all. We wanted to build something different: a tool designed from the beginning around screen readers, audio, clear navigation, simple actions, and independence.
Our goal is to help blind and visually impaired users read, listen, understand, share, and discuss content with less friction. The app is being built to support iOS, Android, web, and Windows, so people can use it on the device that works best for them. Our website is:
Why We Built It
We built Blindmasters Reader because accessible technology can change daily life. For many blind people, reading is not only about books. It includes school material, work documents, messages, images, videos, instructions, articles, community posts, and information that sighted people can quickly scan with their eyes.
When an app is not accessible, a blind user may need another person to explain content, describe an image, read text, or help with navigation. That creates a loss of privacy, independence, and time. Blindmasters Reader is being created to reduce that gap.
We want blind users to have a reliable place where they can access content, listen to it, get descriptions, save useful material, communicate with others, and participate in a learning community without feeling like accessibility is an afterthought.
What The App Does
Blindmasters Reader is being developed as a practical accessibility platform. Its features are focused on real daily needs, including:
- Reading and listening to accessible content.
- Support for books and published reading material.
- Audio-focused workflows for users who rely on VoiceOver, TalkBack, screen readers, and keyboard navigation.
- Image description tools that help explain visual content.
- Video description tools that help users understand what is happening in media.
- Group features where users can communicate, share books, send messages, and learn together.
- Invite links and sharing tools so communities can grow.
- Accessible actions designed for screen-reader users instead of cluttered visual controls.
- A backend connected to blindmasters.org so the app can support accounts, groups, published content, and future services.
- Planned availability across iOS, Android, web, and Windows.
Who It Helps
This project is for blind and visually impaired readers, students, workers, teachers, parents, and community members. It is also for organizations, schools, and families who want better tools for accessible reading and communication.
A student may use it to access study material. A reader may use it to listen to books. A group may use it to share accessible resources. A blind user may use image or video descriptions to understand content that would otherwise be locked behind a visual barrier.
The people who benefit most are those who need technology that respects their independence.
Why We Are Fundraising
Building a serious accessibility app takes time, testing, infrastructure, and development resources. We are fundraising to help cover the costs of development, hosting, backend services, AI-powered accessibility features, testing, app store preparation, platform support, and long-term maintenance.

We want Blindmasters Reader to work smoothly across iOS, Android, web, and Windows. Each platform requires engineering work, accessibility testing, updates, and support. We also need to keep the blindmasters.org backend reliable so users can access shared services, group features, and future improvements.
Funds will help us:
- Continue building and improving the mobile apps.
- Prepare Android, web, and Windows versions.
- Improve accessibility and screen-reader support.
- Support image and video description features.
- Maintain the blindmasters.org website and backend.
- Pay for hosting, APIs, infrastructure, and development tools.
- Test the app with real blind and visually impaired users.
- Make the app more stable, polished, and ready for public use.
Why This Matters
Accessibility is not a luxury. It is the difference between depending on someone else and doing something independently.
Blindmasters Reader is not just another app. It is part of a larger mission to create tools that let blind people read, learn, communicate, and participate with dignity. Every improvement can save users time, protect their privacy, and open access to information that should have been available to them already.
We believe blind users deserve technology that is built for them from the start. With your support, we can continue developing Blindmasters Reader and bring it to more people on more platforms.
How You Can Help
Your donation will directly support the development and launch of Blindmasters Reader. Any amount helps us move closer to a more complete, accessible, cross-platform app for blind and visually impaired users.
You can also help by sharing this fundraiser with people who care about accessibility, education, assistive technology, disability rights, and equal access to information.
Thank you for supporting Blindmasters Reader and helping us build a more accessible future.
Planned platforms: iOS, Android, web, and Windows
