EMPATHY IN ACTION - Matthew's Fight, The Meaney Family
Donation protected
Come together with us,
to take EMPATHY IN ACTION!!!
Resilience is the capacity of a person(s) to maintain their core purpose and integrity in the face of dramatically changed circumstances…
11 years ago Matthew Meaney, a wild happy healthy 2-year-old, was diagnosed with Leukemia.
To say the journey for the Meaney family have “been tough” is an understatement.
“your son has cancer”
“prepare yourself, Matthew may not wake up from his coma”
“sir, you’re not allowed to put posters on the ceiling”
“your son has epilepsy”
“the seizures have caused Matthew to suffer a stroke”
“the stroke caused Matthew’s brain to start deteriorating”
“remember you’ve been blessed by the last 11 years, what Matthew has overcome, that he is still here…”

If provided the opportunity for your paths to cross, you are witness to the UNION, the strength, the calm, the humour, the laughter and WHOLE LOTTA LOVE this family exudes. The connection and bond in which they share together, the power of their resilience is remarkable.
They are surviving and we’d like to come together to help them THRIVE through the next mountain they’ll climb.
The Meaney’s have lost months and years of income with an unknown road ahead, lets provide them the gift of time.
Over the years, they moved just houses down from the hospital for the convenience and safety of Matthew and unfortunately, due to late-payments less than a handful of times, LATE, not negligent, late and yes, LESS THAN A HANDFUL OF TIMES weeks ago received a MAY 2025 eviction notice, from their landlord. One to which they’ll have to fight in court to ask for a delayed eviction until July to provide them an opportunity to handle what they would later learn will take place on March 27th.
Despite their best efforts, are at loss of income and opportunity,
They are not NEGLIGENT, they are FIGHTING, MATTHEW’S FIGHT.

This Thursday March 27th at 9 am, Matthew will have probes surgically placed on his brain. This Thursday which also happens to be Matthew’s 14th birthday!!!
His neurological team will spend the next two weeks mapping his brain and stimulate different parts to see if those parts align with what they would suspect they do to give them a very in-depth look into how Matthew’s brain works.
Over the course of the following weeks, the Meaney family alongside Matthew’s team, will determine what the best solution is for prolonging the deterioration of his brain.

In honour of Matthew’s recent 10th anniversary, his upcoming 14th birthday, we are asking you to please come together with us, to take EMPATHY IN ACTION!!!
For EMILY, the teenage girl who’s deep connection and dedication to her brother has become engrained in the fabric of her being. The one who lacks recognition in the fight and the one who has to spend the next few weeks at a distance, due to restrictions for visitors, for her to be with her parents, with her brother. To provide Emily and opportunity to follow her dreams; a future education, future opportunities that she deserves.
This is for STEVE, the Patch Adams of the family.
The Dad, who provides humour, loyalty and love the wonders of his world.
This is for DANIELLE, the Wonder Woman.
The Mom, who faces and protects her flock at the front line.
Let’s come together to help provide support;
- loss of income
- household, moving expenses
- grocery and meals
- Emily's education
