As members of the Alpha Theta Chapter of Alpha Tau Omega, we have come together to say enough is enough. The racial injustices experienced by the black community in America can no longer be tolerated. Although the recent murders of George Floyd and other African Americans have once again placed the issue in the headlines, we recognize that this is a result of deep-rooted systematic injustices. As a fraternity, we can no longer sit silently on the sidelines and hope for the best. We feel the need to take action. Our organization stands on the principles of teaching that “true men the world over should stand together and contend for supremacy of good over evil; to teach, not politics, but morals.” This is not a political issue; this is a human rights issue. For this reason, ATO has decided to use our platform and organize a fundraiser for the NAACP’s Legal Defense and Education Fund. Black Lives Matter.

Systemic change will only come by successfully using existing levers of power. No organization has a stronger or more proven track record than the LDF.
