Hi everyone,
After a 4 year break, It's time to get my race trainers on again - this year I'm running the Brighton Half and the London Marathon for PEDAL PEOPLE!
I'm a volunteer pilot and trustee for this fabulous local charity and we need your support! With 1 in 20 people in Brighton living with a disability, it's so important that we raise awareness of these smaller projects that offer participants much-needed stimulation and outdoor activity in their local environment.
Ongoing funding is needed to train new pilots, support and expand the existing fleet of bikes and to offer more rides to more people all over our city.
Please read on for some more info and thank you SO MUCH for your contributions!
We are also looking for longer-term corporate sponsors so please do message me if you think you can help.
Pedal People offers accessible cycle rides and wind-in-hair wellbeing for elders and people living with disability or health challenges in Brighton and Hove.
Uniquely, our charity trains carers and volunteers to pilot rides, enabling important connections with participants and access to enjoy the seafront and green spaces throughout our city. View the gallery of our cycles in action on our website (www.pedalpeople.org.uk)
Invigorating, fun, uplifting and (often only) outdoor activity via 2 different services:
1. Elder Care Rides: Weekly schedule, bookable through care providers. These cycles are piloted by our team of 44 volunteers (that's me!)
2. All-ages Accessible Rides from our seafront Hub: All-ages and abilities. For this service we train carers, friends, family to pilot. Variety of pedal/non-pedal/electric assist trikes available.
Unique attributes:
· 50% Women cycle pilot volunteers* and Charity Board (*women under-represented in cycling in UK).
· Open 12 months a year. Seafront and city location enabling participation in /around own community.
· Participants enjoy between 6-20Km taking in parks, sea and even allotment adventuring.
