Emma’s Endowment for Hope
Donation protected
For a child, losing a parent is incredibly painful. Losing both parents at the same time is unimaginable and incomprehensible. That is Emma’s heartbreaking story. In an effort to bring healing light and comfort to Emma and her extended family, and help reduce the financial challenges that lie ahead, we have created this GoFundMe. I had the good fortune of meeting the Emerick/Canham family through coaching the U8 girls KLAX team with Sara. Sara and I, alongside Jim Shea and Krista Leary, spent a silly and successful season, coaching our daughters and a squad of giggling, cartwheeling, and hard-working 5-8 year olds. The team made lots of happy memories. My friendship with Sara extended beyond the field, allowing me the opportunity to get to know Colin and Emma. Colin was always kind and generous. He made excellent steak tacos and always made sure Emma had on sun-block. And, Sara, my friend…she was an amazing human being: humble, honest, caring, strong, and smart. They both devoted their lives to little Emma. Sweet little Emma is a beautiful blessing. She adores animals, particularly her dog, Booty, and her cat, Rosebud, and horses Patrick and Sadie from the stable where she rides. Emma is an avid reader, and a dedicated lacrosse and soccer player. She knows all the words to every Brandi Carlile song and loves karaoke. Most importantly, Emma is a kind, compassionate soul, loving friend, and resilient little girl. Emma’s activities outside of school, which she and her family want to continue, have now taken on a new and greater role of being part of Emma’s personal healing process. The funds raised here will ensure the costs associated with these important programs will not be a burden and will help Emma seamlessly continue being a part of them now and in the future. It is with immense gratitude that we thank you for any amount of support you’re able to contribute to ensure Emma’s connections to her Kingston community. Funds go directly to an account established for Emma by the family. Peace, hope, and love to all.
