Emma and Lily Need Our Support

Dear Family and Friends of Emma and Lily Watchilla,

Before the new year, Emma and Lily Watchilla lost their father, Jim Watchilla.

He spent many years on their field hockey sidelines, watching their games and being one of their biggest fans. He was a huge advocate for Surge, Wyoming Seminary, WVW, and UVA field hockey. One of our fondest memories of Jim is watching him during a Kapow field hockey camp, trying to teach Emma how to take a backhand at the age of 10 on the Wyoming Seminary field. To this day, Emma has one of the strongest backhands Surge has ever seen.

Emma and Lily are family to Surge. Our hearts are breaking for them, and they are in our thoughts and prayers every day. They have had a very hard last couple of years, much harder than most teenagers and sophomores in college. Unfortunately, due to the past couple of years' circumstances, they have been left with nothing but now the heartache and destruction. We want to be able to help in any way possible for their futures. They are strong young women and deserve much more than we can even give.

A little bit about both beautiful young ladies (if you do not have the pleasure of knowing them):

Emma Watchilla is a sophomore forward at the University of Virginia. She is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences. She is and has been on USA field hockey teams' pipeline since the age of 14, attending numerous USA training camps. She has been a player and now a coach at Surge. She absolutely loves giving back to the younger athletes in the club, and we are grateful every day for her.

Lily Watchilla is a freshman at Wyoming Valley West, a 2028 grad. She is on U16 Solar Flare for Surge. She may seem quiet, but if you get to know her, you will see her funny side. She makes every team she is on stronger, she plays for the teammates around her, and has a pass-first mentality. We are grateful every day that she is a part of our strong 2028 class.
