Emily's Fight Against AML
Donation protected
This go fund me page has been set up to raise funds for a young lady called Emily, whom is currently in hospital having intensive treatment for Leukemia.
Some of us may not know the family personally, or may never have never met Emily, but in these difficult times, we know how much support can help.
We would like to put any funds raised towards sending a care package to her, things that will help during her stay in hospital. And if there is enough in the pot after this, perhaps a family day out once they are all back together.
If you are able to donate even just a small amount, I know it will make a world of difference.
THERE WILL ALSO BE A COLLECTION POT AT THE WOODLAND PARK CAKE GET TOGETHER COURTESY OF TIM & SARAH.
Thank you in advance, Jenna, Tim and Emily and her family.
EMILY'S STORY:
Emily is 17 years old and has just finished her first year at Colchester Institute where she has been studying art and design, as she has an amazing passion to become a fashion designer.
On the 14th June 2022, she was diagnosed with Acute myeloid leukemia and her whole world fell apart. Leukemia is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow and this type is an extremely aggressive cancer, that only affects 140 children a year.
She is currently receiving chemotherapy treatment at the University College Hospital, London and her treatment plan will last approximately 4 months. Her mum Kathy and Dad Jason are remaining by her bedside throughout the whole process to provide Emily with support, as she also suffers from extreme anxiety. People who know her will say that Emily is kind, caring and extremely dedicated to her friends and family. She always puts others before herself and never complains. She is determined to get better even though the chemotherapy and various other tests she is having and the prospect of losing her beautiful hair is a devastating prospect.
Emily has recently been told she will require a bone mmarrow transplant and her brother is awaiting results to see if he is a match and if he is not, she will be referred to the bone marrow register.
One week before her diagnosis Emily was a normal teen who was involved in the organising of the community jubilee party, and shared her passion of art and design with the children in the area she lives, a week later her world stopped. As a family we have everything crossed that we can get her home.
(The above was written by the family and permission to share the story was given).
