Emily's GMT Abroad
Donation protected
Hello family and friends,
My name is Emily Liang and this upcoming spring break 2016, I have the exciting opportunity to travel to Dominican Republic for a week-long medical trip through an organization called Global Medical Training (GMT). GMT is an international humanitarian organization with the mission to provide medical and dental healthcare services to the underserved populations in Latin America. With my group of 14 other students and providers, we will personally engage with patients to come up with health solutions to their illnesses and educate them about healthy nutrition.
I have traveled abroad once to volunteer at a clinic in Mexico and have gained so much from this experience medically and culturally. That trip affirmed my decision to continue my journey to pharmacy and inspired me to find more opportunities to serve underprivileged communities. With this year as my last year as an undergraduate student, I believe this may be the only chance for me to ever do this at all. That is why I am beyond excited and grateful to have found this opportunity to help people in need of healthcare services and to expand my insights about the health disparaties in the world.
As much as I am excited for this trip, I am still in need of finanical support to make it a reality. The entire program fee is $1205 and including airfare and other expenses (medical equipment, meals, etc.) it will amount to approximately $1800. I humbly ask for your help to make this happen for me and am greatly appreciative of any donations I may receive. I hope to come back from this trip with amazing and wonderful stories to tell! Thank you so much!!
