Hello! My name is Eileen Meyer. I am embarking on a journey to serve in a two-year mission position with Destiny Rescue Thailand (www.destinyrescue.org/aus/countries/thailand) Destiny Rescue is an international non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing children from sexual exploitation and human trafficking. With Destiny Rescue, I will be working with the founder and president as the executive team administrator. I am humbled and grateful beyond words to be a part of such an organization and to imagine I can make a difference in the lives of these children. I have long desired to use my work and life experience to serve in whatever capacity God has set my path to follow, and it is my hope to bring light to the dark world that has surrounded these children. It is also my hope to minister to women and widows, as God would allow.
Looking back over the past 12 years of being a widow, I understood my most important role to be that of mother to my two teenage children. As my children grew into lives of their own, and I welcomed a beautiful granddaughter to the world, I continued to work in the business world, but a longing was growing inside to discover my purpose in this next season of life. In the fall of 2015, my thoughts began to shift toward a simpler life, a minimalistic lifestyle, as these stirrings began to occupy more of my daily thoughts. I compared it to a feeling of “nesting” … in preparation for "something." I created an inventory of my belongings to donate, sell, or give away and began boxing items accordingly. God then began preparing me to sell my home; all, of course, in an effort to minimalize (so I thought). Several months later when the opportunity presented itself to learn more about Destiny Rescue, I became impassioned with the organization's mission and was encouraged to apply for a volunteer position on the chance there was something I could do to help. The next thing I knew, I found myself in the middle of the interview process, and it was soon confirmed they would love to have me onboard. Through continued prayer, I felt comfortable in giving my resignation letter to my employer and will be leaving my job on June 23rd to begin work in Thailand in early July.
Through following events, God has given me great peace to allow myself to go at this time, and He continues to prepare me to take my leap of faith to be the woman He created me to be and to serve where I am needed. It will be a privilege to walk alongside those who live with loss or are suffering through pain or oppression. I have only imagined being able to provide hope and be a light, even in the smallest of ways, to those who may feel separated or abandoned from God’s love and grace. I want to be a strong and present voice through my words written from a heart for God. With this, I also wish to complete work on my manuscript draft, which is a compilation of my writings journaled through my husband’s six-month illness and subsequent death. I write of the sorrow and loss, the following grief, and eventual joy. This book has truly been a labor of love from God, and I look to include writings from this mission work as part of that return to joy.
As the way of mission work goes (as I will no longer have an income-producing job), I humbly request your prayerful consideration in assisting me with funds for living expenses. Here are my needs:

I understand the cost of living in Chiang Rai is low, but as my first long-term mission trip am not sure what to expect financially; but I trust the Lord to provide. If you are able to fund any amount, whether monthly or a lump sum (no matter how small) I would be most grateful. Please know discernment will be used with all funding. I also ask for your prayers through this time away in service and would value your commitment to this important undertaking.
If you would like to receive my newsletter and/or mission blogs, I would love to have your email address to share my updates on life in service with Destiny Rescue. Thank you so very much for your prayers and support through whichever means may touch your heart. I look forward to sharing with you. God bless,
Eileen
