Emerald Shell — Deliver 30 ShelterSuits to Seattle Neighbors

Hello — I’m Nathan, founder of Emerald Shell.
I started Emerald Shell to get weatherproof ShelterSuits into the hands of people experiencing homelessness across the Seattle region. ShelterSuit has generously committed 30 ShelterSuits for a Seattle pilot. They only ask that we cover shipping, customs, storage, and local distribution. That’s where our community can step in.
What we’re asking for
• Public launch goal: $2,000 (this helps us build momentum and social proof).
• Full project need: $5,000 total — the real minimum required to get the suits from the donor to people who need them.
• Funding plan: We are crowdsourcing $2,500 and pursuing a $2,500 fiscal sponsor commitment. If the community fully funds the $5,000, we’ll use the fiscal sponsor funds to expand distribution and cover future pilots.
Line‑item budget (exact and transparent)
- International shipping for 30 suits: $2,400
- Customs / import fees: $300
- Short‑term storage and handling: $300
- Local transport and distribution logistics: $500
- Partner stipends for outreach teams and shelters: $800
- Inspection, inventory, and packaging on arrival: $200
- Contingency and admin (receipts, reporting): $500 Total: $5,000
How your donation will be used
• Pay international shipping and customs so the donated suits can leave the donor’s warehouse.
• Inspect and inventory every suit on arrival to ensure quality and fit.
• Partner with trusted local shelters and outreach teams to distribute suits to people sleeping outside and in encampments.
• Provide small stipends to outreach partners to cover time and transportation so distribution is safe and effective.
Real impact
ShelterSuits are weatherproof and designed to keep people warm and dry in cold, wet conditions. 30 ShelterSuits = 30 people who are safer and more comfortable during Seattle’s wet season. This pilot will teach us how to scale distribution across the region and strengthen partnerships for ongoing support.
Accountability and updates
I will post regular updates throughout the campaign and after distribution, including:
- Shipping receipts and expense summaries.
- Inventory photos and arrival confirmation.
- Distribution updates with short impact stories and photos when donors consent.
- A final report showing exactly how funds were spent and who was helped.
Tax and fiscal sponsor note
This campaign is currently set up as a personal fundraiser, so donations are not tax‑deductible. I am actively pursuing a fiscal sponsor to cover $2,500 of the project and to enable tax‑deductible donations in the future; I will update donors if/when that changes.
