Emergency Responder Sensory Communication Toolkit
Hi, my name is Adrienne and I am a resident of Scotch Plains. My personal life and my work focus on people with various disabilities and special health needs. Specifically, I am committed to educating and supporting safety, inclusive of people with disabilities. During this holiday season, I have decided to raise money to assemble sensory and communication toolkits for our Scotch Plains emergency responders. There are many times that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, and mental health challenges need different types of supports and tools to help to calm and communicate. We want to be sure that our Scotch Plains officers, firefighters, EMTs, and emergency management team have Sensory and Communication bags filled with different fidget items, sensory-reducing tools, communication supports, and calming mechanisms to help them get through difficult situations and increase safety. Please help support the safety needs in our community. Everyone deserves to feel safe.
