We are the Port Republic Starbucks baristas, and we are coming together to support each other during an incredibly challenging time at our store.
On November 14, 2025, we took a courageous step by doing a March on the Boss to voice our concerns about chronic understaffing, unpredictable hours, and wages that no longer match the cost of living in our community. Many of us struggle to make rent, afford groceries, or cover transportation to work — all while keeping our store running for our customers every day.
We are in the process of unionizing because we believe every worker deserves a safe workplace, reliable hours, and fair pay. While we continue to push for these basic needs, many of our partners are currently facing financial hardship. Several of us are falling behind on rent, utilities, and bills due to inconsistent scheduling and reduced hours.
This Mutual Aid Fund is being created so we can support one another through this period of instability. Your support will help baristas cover essential living expenses — rent, groceries, transportation, medical costs, and emergency needs — while we fight for a workplace where no one has to choose between paying bills and showing up to work.
We love our customers, we love our community, and we’re proud of the work we do. But right now, we need help to stay afloat while advocating for the dignity and stability every worker deserves.
Any amount — even $5 — directly supports local workers who keep this store running.
Thank you for helping us stand together and take care of one another.
