Emergency Relief Fund for Buner, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan After the Cloudburst Disaster

My name is Fazal Jamil. I am a physician living in the United States. My home district of Buner, Pakistan, has recently been devastated by a sudden cloudburst, which caused severe flooding and destruction. Entire neighborhoods have been washed away, homes destroyed, livestock drowned, crops damaged, and about 500, mostly children and women, lost their lives. Thousands are severely injured and many are still missing. Families are struggling for shelter, food, and medical care. The most affected towns include Bishonoi, Qadar Nagar, Pirbaba, and other neighboring suburbs. You can read more about this in these reports in BBC News, BBC Video, and Reuters.

I am starting this GoFundMe to raise urgent funds for relief and rehabilitation efforts in Buner.

Who We Are

I will be organizing this campaign and withdrawing the funds here in the U.S. My close friend Dr. Abdus Salam, a medical doctor, is on the ground in Bishonoi, Buner, directly helping victims. He himself lost many close relatives, including his sister, nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Once funds are withdrawn, I will transfer them to Dr. Salam and his team, who will ensure that every dollar is spent on essential relief and rehab work:

Emergency food and clean water

Temporary shelter for displaced families

Basic medical supplies and care

Support for rebuilding destroyed homes

Why This Matters

Buner is a beautiful, close-knit district, but it is not well-equipped to handle disasters of this scale. Many families have lost everything overnight. With limited government and NGO support reaching the area so far, local community action is critical for longterm sustainable support.

Every donation — no matter the size — will make a direct difference in saving lives and restoring community.

I will share regular updates with photos and reports from Dr. Salam so you can see how your support is being utilized. 100% of the funds (after GoFundMe’s processing fees) will go directly toward relief and rehabilitation in Buner.
