My name is Mustafa Shibary, and I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada. On August 31, 2025, a powerful 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan, devastating Kunar province. This disaster claimed the lives of nearly 1,500 people, injured over 3,000, and destroyed more than 5,000 homes. Thousands of families are now grieving, displaced, and without basic necessities.

This tragedy is deeply personal for me. My wife’s family (Dr. Farid Hakim Safi) is originally from Kunar, and we have relatives and friends who were directly impacted. Some lost loved ones, while others lost their homes entirely and are now left without shelter. These are not strangers to us—they are our family, friends, and community.

We are doing what we can as a family to provide immediate support, but the needs are far greater than what we can manage alone. That is why I have created this fundraiser: to bring direct relief to families we know who are suffering the most.

How the funds will be used:

Every dollar raised will go directly to help families in Kunar who have lost their homes or loved ones. Specifically, the funds will be used to provide:

Temporary shelter (tents, tarps, and basic housing materials)

Food packages (rice, flour, oil, and other essentials)

Emergency supplies (blankets, clothing, hygiene items)

Medical support for the injured where possible

I will be personally overseeing the distribution of these funds to ensure they reach the families in need. Transparency is very important to me, and I will remain accountable for making sure that every dollar goes toward the purpose stated here.

This is not just another appeal for help—it is a plea from someone whose family and loved ones are directly affected. Together, we can ease their suffering, provide comfort, and help them start rebuilding their lives.
