Hi! My name is Terri, and my husband is Yance. We live on a little homestead in New Mexico. We have children and grandchildren in Virginia. Our youngest grandson (7 months old) had been removed from his parents and placed in a temporary home while they wait for us to be able to go pick him up to live with us in New Mexico. As the only relative willing to care for this baby, we must jump into action quickly to keep him from being sent into the system with strangers.
Our Grandson (let's call him B for privacy reasons) was removed from his parents' custody and placed with another family member. This family member conspired with others to then pass B along to another person who was denied by CPS as a possible foster. This was unknown to CPS and, when it came to light, they removed B from that person and called us as the next (and only) family left to take him in. We love B and want to take care of him and protect him from any harm.
We are a safe, stable home for B and love him so much, but this is short notice and, due to current circumstances beyond our control, we are not able to afford the emergency plane tickets and travel expenses.
Any help would be appreciated and will help us go pick up our grandson. If you are unable to donate, please share. Anything helps.
UPDATE: Baby B is here with us now and doing well. He is safe. Unfortunately, we do not qualify for any sort of Kinship Guardianship until he has lived in this state for one year. That means we cannot even authorize medical treatment until we are able to obtain power of attorney. We also have no social services available in our situation to help us adjust to having a baby that needs formula, medical care, and basic essentials for a full year.
We also still have not been able to find an affordable and reliable car.
We are keeping this fundraiser open indefinitely to help recover after traveling to pick him up, the total loss of our family car, and ongoing miscellaneous expenses.
Thank you, and God bless.
Terri, Yance, and Baby B
