Hi, my name is Majo. I’m a single mother doing everything I can to raise my children with love, stability, and dignity. For nearly a year, I’ve been fighting through the legal system just to get the minimum help from their father, who has refused to contribute anything to their lives, financially or otherwise.

Since October 2024 , I had been working with an attorney in New York City, where I was living with my children. She assured me that I would finally be able to get child support. I followed her guidance, stayed patient, and did everything in my power to move the process forward. Unfortunately, my ex has repeatedly refused to cooperate with the court and has ignored every legal step he’s required to take, delaying the entire process while I continue to carry all the weight alone.

As I had no support and family in NYC, I made the decision to move with my children to Mexico, where at least we could have the help of my family. But even from here, the legal case must continue in New York, and the attorney who represents us must be based there.

Instead of fighting harder for us, my NYC attorney gave up. She stopped responding to my calls and emails and ultimately abandoned my case without explanation. I only found out from another lawyer that a court hearing had already taken place , and I was never even told. I was left without representation, unaware and unprotected at a critical moment in the process.

All this time, I’ve had to take on everything alone the role of both mother and father. I work to support my family, care for my children full-time, manage the home, cook, clean, help and handle every emotional need they have. I carry the full weight of every decision and responsibility, financial, physical, and emotional.

Finding stable work as a chef has also been incredibly difficult. Most jobs in kitchens require full-time availability, long hours, late nights, and weekend shifts, which simply isn’t possible when you’re raising young children alone. I’ve tried to find part-time opportunities, but they rarely pay enough to cover even our basic expenses. And hiring a babysitter would cost more than what I would earn. It doesn’t make sense to work just to pay someone else to care for my kids, especially when they need me the most. I want to be present in their lives. but without support from their father and no legal enforcement, I’m stuck in a cycle that’s impossible to break on my own.

Now, I urgently need to hire a new attorney in New York City who can help me restart the process and finally hold my ex accountable. The cost to begin again is at least $5,000 USD, which I simply do not have. Every cent I earn goes toward our survival: rent, food, school, and medical expenses.

This fundraiser is my last resort. I’m not asking for comfort or luxury , I’m asking for legal help to secure the most basic support my children are entitled to.
