Protecting Our Aunt After Two ICE Raids

Dear friends, family, and community,

On July 10th, around noon, my mom’s sister—my aunt—was taken by ICE while at work in Camarillo, CA, as part of the ongoing federal immigration raids in Ventura. A weapon was pointed at her during the raid, and while being transported, she suffered a diabetic episode. She was taken to a hospital in Oxnard and held under ICE supervision until they left.

We are incredibly grateful to the hospital staff, who protected her by not allowing ICE into her room, and to the 805 Immigrant Rapid Response Network, who arrived quickly to escort her safely from the hospital to her home.

Now, she is dealing with the physical and emotional trauma of being targeted in two separate ICE raids at her workplace within a month. Out of deep fear for her safety, she cannot return to work. This has left her family in a vulnerable situation.

We are seeking financial support to help cover:

Medical expenses from her emergency hospitalization

Basic living costs while she recovers and remains unable to work

El 10 de julio, alrededor del mediodía, la hermana de mi mamá—mi tía—fue detenida por ICE mientras trabajaba en Camarillo, CA, como parte de las redadas federales de inmigración que están ocurriendo en Ventura. Durante la redada, le apuntaron con un arma y, mientras era trasladada, sufrió una crisis diabética. Fue llevada a un hospital en Oxnard, donde estuvo bajo la supervisión de ICE hasta que se retiraron.

Estamos profundamente agradecidos con el personal del hospital, quienes la protegieron al no permitir que ICE ingresara a su habitación, y con la Red de Respuesta Rápida para Inmigrantes del 805, que llegó rápidamente para escoltarla de forma segura del hospital a su casa.

Ahora ella enfrenta el trauma físico y emocional de haber sido atacada en dos redadas distintas de ICE en su lugar de trabajo en menos de un mes. Por miedo a su seguridad, no puede regresar a trabajar, lo que ha dejado a su familia en una situación muy vulnerable.
