Hi everyone! Many of you across this community know me as Foxbox.

I am reaching out to you all because I am currently facing an unexpected and urgent housing crisis, and I need to relocate as soon as possible for my own safety and health.

Recently, I made the leap from Texas to Washington. As a trans woman, I needed to leave an extremely unsupportive family situation and an increasingly hostile state for my safety, moving into a more queer accepting space with access to gender-affirming healthcare.

While Washington has made a huge difference for me, moving out here took everything I had, and I am still recovering financially. Unfortunately, my current living situation has become unexpectedly volatile and unsafe. My timeline to move out is unpredictable, and I am facing the danger of being displaced on extremely short notice.

Some good news is that I recently landed a job! While having income is a major step toward long-term independence, my first paycheck has been small and as I am still recovering from the cost of my cross-country move and medical debt from gender-affirming care. Because of this, my earnings can’t cover the upfront costs of an emergency move on such short notice, especially without having an established credit score to secure traditional leasing options.

My primary goal is to secure an affordable room-share or sublet in a safe and queer-friendly living situation within commuting distance of my workplace. However, because I may need to leave my current place on extremely short notice and before I have a long-term room ready, I also need funds for temporary emergency housing, such as a hotel room, to ensure I have shelter while I continue my search.

I want to be as open as possible about where the funds will go, because every dollar is strictly only for my necessities.

My goal is to secure my physical safety and a quiet, affordable place so I can focus on my new job and rebuild my life in peace.
