Emergency Home Repairs for Daryl and Toni
Donation protected
Hello! This is John Shaul. Me and my wife Sarah have created this fundraiser to help my parents, Daryl and Toni Shaul.
On March 11, 2024, Dad and Mom discovered extensive water damage in the walls and floor of their bedroom and bathroom due to an unknown leaky pipe. Upon closer inspection, they found the drywall, subfloor, and flooring in both spaces were saturated, unsafe, and in need of immediate removal and replacement. Dad and Mom had their bedroom furniture and belongings moved into an onsite container until the extensive repairs could be made (listed below), most of which had to be completed by professional contractors. Mitigation and repairs included:
- Moving and storing belongings
- Drying out bedroom and bathroom
- Removing, installing, and painting drywall in bedroom and bathroom
- Removing and reinstalling bathroom subfloor and flooring
- Removing and reinstalling bathroom vanity and shower
- Fixing the plumbing in sink and shower
Unfortunately, their homeowners' insurance policy only provides coverage for water damage caused by a natural disaster, not bad plumbing. In other words, insurance will not provide anything for the damage or repairs. Dad and Mom are responsible for covering the full cost–a total of approximately $9,000.
Dad and Mom are on a fixed income, so this sum is overwhelming for their day-to-day budget. They are hard-pressed to come up with the necessary funds. It’s causing stress in their lives (in addition to being uprooted from their usual routines and comforts of home). I am hoping this fundraiser will allow them to pay for all the costs associated with this emergency repair. They’ve already had to pull from hard-earned savings accounts. But more bills will be due soon. I’m hoping their community can keep them from having to dip into retirement accounts as well.
I hope you will prayerfully consider contributing to this fundraiser and helping this hard-working and generous couple return to their home and normal life. Any amount you can give–whether $5, $50, or $500 (or anything in between!)–will be greatly appreciated and go a long way to providing peace of mind for Dad and Mom. Any amount adds up and shows them how much they are loved and appreciated.
