Did you hear about this fire in Vail, Arizona? Our beautiful friends Jens and his wife Trudy Witter, whom I have known for over 20 years since they immigrated from Germany, lost everything they built to support their lives. Their financial stability and planned retirement in two years is no longer possible.
The devastation they are experiencing is indescribable, and the financial loss is extreme. This includes more than 80 historical, unique pianos brought with them from Germany, one of which was played by Beethoven himself. All irreplaceable. They are also struggling to restore running water and power to their residence.
Jens Witter is an expert piano restorer, collector, and creator, which is a result of his true love of pianos, the ‘sunshine’ of his passion. Restoring instrumental masterpieces.
Our goal is to help them keep food on their table and begin to rebuild what they lost; their business, which is their only source of income and financial stability.
Rebuilding their business will also allow them to continue providing the unique service to the musical industry here in Tucson: piano restoration. Family heirlooms, historical masterpieces, antique, vintage, and modern pianos. Not just external restoration but repairing and rebuilding the internal keys and mechanisms and tuning to bring their original sound back to life.
If you have a piano in need of restoration or tuning, or if you would like to donate a piano, you may contact Jens Witter directly at https://antiquepiano.com to coordinate this.
